RF Radiation Safety Surveys
With our expertise in rf safety measurement equipment we are able to offer a class leading measurement service.
An rf safety survey may be required for a number of reasons. Usually an installation using a source of rf energy has been installed or modified in an area that people, either employees or the general public, can access. Despite current media interest mobile telephones and base stations are not the only source of rf energy in the work place. Many industries ranging from food processing to car manufacture use various pieces of equipment that are relatively high power sources e.g. Heat sealers or vinyl welders, induction heaters, sputtereing equipment, ion implant equipment, microwave drying equipment etc. There are of course more obvious sources such as broadcast and radar systems. If there is any concern that there is a risk of exposure the next step is to ascertain if a survey is necessary.
With a few simple questions we are pleased to advise whether we feel a survey is the best course of action, questions such as how much power is available from the system, frequency of operation and how close can people get to the source give a quick guide to the level of hazard.

Whether using ICNIRP or HPA guidelines, or seeking to prove compliance with the EMF Directive (2004/40/EC) it is easy for the uninitiated to become bogged down in what are relatively technical documents. We pride ourselves on breaking down technical issues into language that is easily understood.

It is in an interesting anomaly that a lot of time is spent discussing the guidelines for the 'safe' level of rf exposure yet few are aware of standards for the equipment that is in turn used in assessing compliance with the guidelines. As a result of this measurements are often made with entirely inappropriate equipment giving rise to large and often unknown measurement errors.
